Site Purpose: The IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) website was re-launched on 1 July 2023. The website aims to promote IAS to its members, potential members, partners, and the general public.

How does this affect the IEEE digital presence:

The IAS website was noted as a concern by the TAB Society and Council Review Committee (SCRC) during the Society review and was in desperate need of an upgrade. The IAS board made it a priority to update the site as soon as possible. The board chose a marketing vendor that was used by the Power & Energy Society and Photonics Society to redesign the website. Since the vendor had worked with the IEEE Experience Design (ExD) team and knew IEEE’s digital compliance and branding requirements, the process went smoothly and launched on time. The IEEE ExD team was instrumental in providing guidance on branding, UX design, and accessibility requirements as well as technical support with IT. 

IAS is one of IEEE’s largest Societies. What makes IAS unique is that the volunteers drive the Society (with two staff members). After a kickoff meeting at the IAS Q3 board meeting, the IAS board was surveyed for feedback. In addition, a volunteer project team was set up to make strategic decisions, review, and provide feedback on the 120 pages that were developed. ExD was instrumental in providing guidance while taking the volunteers’ comments into consideration.
